  • Sir William Bentley Billiards Celebrates Nearly 40 Years of Excellence in Handcrafted British Billiard, Snooker, and Pool Tables

MARTEN, ENGLAND – Sir William Bentley Billiards, the globally renowned specialist in antique restoration and the design of bespoke billiard, snooker, and pool tables, is proud to showcase its nearly 40-year legacy of British craftsmanship. From its workshops in Marten, nestled on the borders of Berkshire and Wiltshire, the family-run business continues to set the world standard for beauty, quality, and technical innovation in the industry.

Founded on a passion for the restoration and reproduction of fine antique tables, the company has evolved into a leading designer for the most discerning clients and interior designers worldwide. Every piece is individually handmade in England, utilizing skills ranging from intricate marquetry and delicate wood inlays to precision metalworking and traditional hand-polishing.

“Our intent is to produce individual pieces of the highest possible quality while striving for each client’s complete satisfaction,” says the team at Sir William Bentley Billiards. “Whether restoring a table once owned by Tsar Nicholas of Russia or creating a minimalist contemporary masterpiece for a modern penthouse, our commitment to detail remains unparalleled.

    Innovation in Dual-Purpose Design

Sir William Bentley Billiards is particularly celebrated for its precision-engineered dual-purpose tables. These innovative designs allow a high-performance, slate-bed playing table to transform seamlessly into a stunning dining or conference table capable of seating up to 20 people. The company offers three distinct mechanisms for these transformations:

    • The Rollover: A patented, damped, and geared mechanism that allows a dining table to be replaced by a playing table in seconds.
    • The Wind-up: A precision-engineered system using a large brass handle to raise and lower the playing surface.
    • The Air-lift (The Blower): A pneumatic system actuated by push buttons for effortless height adjustment.

    A Bespoke Experience

The company’s showrooms house an “Aladdin’s cave” of rare woods, including burr Walnut, rich rosewood, and finely grained mahogany. Clients can fully personalize their commissions, choosing from a vast array of finishes—from natural and stained wood to lacquered or metallized surfaces—and a wide spectrum of traditional and contemporary cloth colours.

To complement their world-class tables, Sir William Bentley Billiards also handcrafts a diverse range of accessories, including specialist billiard lighting, bespoke cue racks, handmade balls boxes, and matching furniture such as dining chairs and upholstered benches.
