Set within a full-scale family renovation in leafy Kent, this modern kitchen and bespoke dressing room offer a masterclass in material contrast, hidden function, and everyday elegance. Designed in partnership with Schmidt, the spaces reflect a seamless blend of minimalist form and thoughtful craftsmanship.
“We wanted something that felt cohesive with the rest of the home – modern, neutral, but with a real sense of character,” the homeowners explain. “The kitchen is now the centrepiece of family life. It is not just where we cook, it is where we gather.”
Central to the kitchen’s impact is the large island, with Bosca Stria doors. Their textured surface adds both visual depth and architectural flow. To maintain an uncluttered aesthetic, the design intentionally omits wall units. Instead, Jumbo Line drawers and deep cabinetry offer discreet storage, while a generous walk-in pantry ensures everything has its place.
“The clever storage was essential,” they say. “We wanted the kitchen to feel open and calm, but it still had to function for daily family use. The internal layout made that possible.”
By contrast, the dressing room posed a different challenge: a compact footprint with limited natural light. Here, the focus was on creating a streamlined, high-function space without compromising on finish. Bespoke cabinetry and smart internal fittings maximised every inch.
Beyond design, the couple were also drawn to Schmidt’s sustainability credentials, including eco-certified materials and a circular approach to manufacturing. “That ethos really appealed to us. It felt like a brand aligned with the values we were trying to build into our home.”
Despite unforeseen delays from contractors, the Schmidt team remained agile. “They were brilliant, adaptable with timing, and genuinely collaborative in guiding layout and material choices.”
The renovation took place over six months, integrated into the broader construction programme. The result is a home that feels elevated yet effortless. “The walk-in pantry is always a talking point, and the island drawers make staying organised surprisingly easy. It has transformed how we live.”
