Sleep & Eat is Europe’s leading design and innovation event for the hospitality sector. Showcasing over 150 top suppliers and their latest designs and innovations, Sleep & Eat returns this year on 19th – 20th November with the theme “Social FlexAbility.” The show will be exploring one of the most challenging issues of our technology-enabled age through Sleep & Eat Sets – concept guestrooms, restaurant and bar – and the Sleep & Eat Conference. Plans for this year also include the introduction of a Social Hub and a new-look VIP Lounge.
The theme for 2019 is intended to explore hospitality’s unique place in balancing our desire for human interaction with our need for privacy. Taking on this theme, six creative studios will create four Guest Room Sets alongside a Restaurant and Bar Set, with the challenge to provide flexible spaces where users can activate the social experience of their choice. As in previous years, the event will also feature an international exhibition, bringing back world-renowned manufacturers and introducing newcomers to launch their latest collections and showcase furniture, fabrics and wallcoverings, lighting, flooring and more.
The show returns with the pop-up Sleeper Bar, known as the place to gather, network and socialise. This year’s Bar will be designed by Michaelis Boyd, the London and New York based architecture studio recognised for its sophisticated, design-led approach and emphasis on sustainable and environmentally conscious materials and building techniques. Recent projects include: The Williamsburg Hotel, New York; Duddell’s London; The Principal Manchester; RYSE Hotel, Seoul; and Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire.
In recognition of the continuing convergence between hotels, restaurants and bars, the event’s previously separate conference streams are being merged into one Sleep & Eat Conference, curated by Heleri Rande. Global leaders from across the sector will unpack the ideas that will inspire the evolution of hospitality design and experience. Talks will be taken by leaders from the following companies; The Standard Hotels, NeueHouse, Virgin Galactic, Rocco Forte Hotels, CitizenM, The Langham London, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Michaelis Boyd Associates, Grzywinski+Pons, Megre Interiors, and Baca Architects.
There will also be a late-night networking event from 6-8:30pm on Tuesday 19th November. This will be an opportunity to network with the design community and catch up with peers. Sleep & Eat welcomes representatives from across the entire hospitality supply chain including designers, architects, hoteliers, restaurateurs and investors.
