Situated in leafy Primrose Hill, Gloucester Avenue is one of the loveliest and most elegantly understated terraces in the city. Built in the Georgian era, it has been a part of North London for over 200 years. This area encompasses a unique blend of media personalities, niche businesses, young families and all the buzzing, affluent promise of this particular locale.
Number 48 is a recent contemporary addition to the avenue, its exterior in-keeping with the personality of the district, whilst owning its youthful éclat. This home breathes new life into an established pillar of the Primrose Hill community.
Brief
Oxan were privately commissioned to equip this stylish new addition to the avenue with bespoke fitted furnishings, including cupboards, wardrobes, vanity units and a kitchen; blending tasteful aesthetics with durable premium architectural materials.
It was key that our bespoke designs not only compartmentalised all the necessary accoutrements of family life, but that it opened out the space to its fullest extent. Maintaining the space’s spaciousness allows daylight and life to fluidly move and connect.
Design
The development at Gloucester Avenue has family living at its heart. Typical of contemporary culture, the living area has been designed with the aim of encouraging communication and collaboration through its flowing, open-plan space. We matched this sense of connection by systematising fittings, maximising the space and allowing for as much uncluttered freedom as possible.
Classic luxury finishes of quartz and marble quietly punctuate a deliberately neutral interior, whilst internal storage solutions remain subtle and pre-emptive. These design principles orchestrate domestic harmony and easy-style city living, remaining a long-lasting joy for multigenerational use.
The fittings’ airy colour details make the most of the space’s natural affinity for light, whilst moving with the current trend for spaces that are simultaneously zen and multifunctional.
Throughout the home, Oxan has delivered a discreet, proactive design seamlessly blending into the interior, perfectly matching the rhythmic ebb and flow of daily family life.
