New Ravenna Mosaics creative director Sara Baldwin has created a new collection just in time for those summer months. As part of the Delft collection, Chinoiserie is a hand cut jewel glass mosaic shown in Marcasite, Pewter, Mica with a Quartz Sea Glass finished background.The collection was inspired by Chinese porcelain from the Netherlands back in the 1600s. The crisp and vibrant colour combinations, and the intricate patterns are both inspired by Asian and European influences. With five new mosaics part of the collection, including the 17th century French Chinoiserie design, each piece of glass is cut to shape and are produced in the New Ravenn a studio in Virginia.
Creative director Sara Baldwin says of the collection: ‘It is always inspiring to design with a limited palette, this collection allowed me to explore the myriad of blues beyond the original cobalt used in Delftware. This is a color combination that has its roots in much of the world, from the Middle and Far East to practically all of Europe.”
The Delft Collection is available in jewel glass or natural stone. Each uses the traditional hand cut method to shape individual pieces of glass and is made to order in the New Ravenna Mosaics studio on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
