Hot on the heels of the new ‘Light Play’ collection, fine artist Deirdre Dyson reveals four 25th Anniversary celebratory designs – Carnival, Sunlit, Slivers, and Pool of Light. The striking quartet are all signature designs that have been popular over the years. Personally selected and reimagined by Deirdre in vibrant new colourways, each one is totally transformed by a different colour palette. Slivers is smoothly colour graded with 36 different hues of wool and silk to give a three-dimensional effect. Three of the new designs (Slivers, Sunlit and Carnival) integrate fine silk elements, adding a tactile twist to the exquisite wool creations; one is pure wool (Pool of Light) for a more matt finish.

Deirdre says: “I love having a chance to play with colour, so for me the challenge of reinventing these much-loved designs for my 25th anniversary was pure joy. Slivers and Pool of Light both have simple organic shapes at the centre, and I played with colour in the overlapping areas to make them interesting, sticking to a simpler colour palette for Slivers to give it a new edge. I like bringing fluidity and movement into my designs and have always been inspired by the beauty of water. I alternated coloured wools and silks, in cerulean and sapphire blues for the special version of Sunlit. Ribbons are a favourite design motif and I was excited to reinvent Carnival – one of my most popular designs – to create a moodier version.”
This capsule collection will join the main 2025 collection ‘Light Play’ on display in Deirdre’s London gallery from September. The stunning ‘Light Play’ designs focus on the interplay of light through colour, geometry and form. Six designs (Search Light, Pin Points, Panels (grey), Square Cuts and Rock Pool plus the large-scale Suspense) can be enjoyed in all their glory hanging in Deirdre’s gallery on the King’s Road, London. In Deirdre’s Parisian gallery on Rue des Saints-Pères, Panels (Green), Totem, Playtime, Jelly, Facets, Agro and Les Rouges are now exhibited.
‘Light Play’ explores colour in its purest form, the new palette centres around softer shades from the purple spectrum – lilacs, lavenders, heathers and mauves – which sit harmoniously in overlaid pastel colourways or combine with juxtaposing hues to dramatic effect. The luxurious wool and silk threaded carpets are works of art in themselves, designed to complement and enhance any luxurious interior scheme.
Every Deirdre Dyson carpet is ‘made to measure’, tailored to each customer’s specification using Tibetan wool and high-grade pure silk, available in the full colour spectrum. Customers can either visit the Deirdre Dyson Gallery in London or Paris to be inspired by the carpets on display or have a virtual consultation with Deirdre or her team. Goodweave-certified, Deirdre Dyson carpets are handwoven by Nepalese craftspeople and can be designed and woven for private residential or commercial spaces.
