Welcome to The Art Of Design
  • Christophe Carpente

For Christophe Carpente, architecture has always been a conversation between people and place. French-born and Swiss-trained, he began his career shaping environments for global luxury brands, bringing architectural precision, technical discipline and a nuanced understanding of spatial narrative to over 500 retail projects for houses including Burberry, Cartier, De Beers, Dunhill and Christian Lacroix.

This early work instilled in him an acute sensitivity to context, proportion and detail. More than branding exercises, these projects were studies in human behaviour – how light, material and movement form emotional and physical connections. From that foundation, his practice evolved organically towards domestic architecture.

Our work is always about intimacy and trust – delivering spaces that express who our clients are, not just how they live.” Christophe Carpente

Based in Notting Hill, CARPENTE now applies the same rigour to private residences, extending its architectural thinking from structure and light to bespoke furniture, lighting systems and art curation as a unified whole. Every project begins with a deep understanding of how its inhabitants live and what matters to them, shaping homes that feel coherent and genuinely personal.

Where retail demanded clarity of identity, residential work demands a quieter set of skills: empathy, patience and the ability to translate life’s intricacies into form. In shifting from public environments to private commissions, Carpente reframes design as an intimate dialogue, forging long-standing relationships with clients and collaborators alike. Homes emerge not from trend or spectacle but from a sustained exchange of ideas, trust and creative intuition.

Today, CARPENTE’s work is marked by discreet confidence – spaces that are deeply rooted in the lives they accommodate. In this evolution, Christophe Carpente’s work lies not in a signature style but in the craft of listening, interpreting and shaping environments with technical intelligence and emotional resonance.
