Rupert Bevan is pleased to announce the opening of his new London showroom at 11 Lonsdale Road in the Queens Park area – located just north of Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill.
Designers, makers and finishers of unique bespoke furniture and specialist interiors, Rupert Bevan Ltd offers a complete service from initial consultation to final fitting, and an incomparable opportunity for involvement in the creative process.Rupert and the team work closely with clients and interior decorators to transform their ideas and inspiration into a series of concept designs, alongside creating custom made finishes at their London studio. The approved designs are then turned into technical drawings by our talented designers, and brought to life by our team of highly skilled makers and finishers.
Everything is made in Britain, often by hand using rare and traditional artisan techniques. Our diverse specialities include cabinet making, metalwork, stone and leather work, antiqued mirror glass and églomisé, decorative paintwork and lacquerwork, gilded and gesso finishes – amongst many others, providing an extraordinary capacity to meet almost any brief.
Although Rupert Bevan has long moved away from restoration, his background in the subject has left his company with a rich understanding of countless different styles, materials and finishes. This allows us to perfectly translate initial ideas into beautiful and functional pieces, displaying exceptional craftsmanship and understated excellence in design.
The decision to move the location of the London Showroom, formerly on Fulham High Street, was not made lightly. To many people South West London might appear to be the design hub of the city and a more suitable area to be situated in… But as a bespoke furniture designer-maker and specialist finisher, Rupert felt a need to convey how we offer something different; the value of the process as well as the end product. The opportunity to create a new showroom that genuinely reflects the nature of the business was an exciting and important change, and we had to find a space that would allow this…
Lonsdale Road offered us just that. It is a charming and attractive mews street, and home to a wide diversity of small independent businesses. It has great character and is a fantastic place to be based as well as an interesting place to visit. The Queens Park area is also host to many different design organisations, and is currently in the process of establishing itself as a Design District for the London Design Festival in September.
Our upstairs showroom houses a vast sample library showcasing the different materials and finishes we work with, including many specialist finishes developed exclusively within the company. It is an ideal space for consultation, and for finding inspiration. The finishing studio downstairs also allows a rare glimpse into the finishing processes and creativity of our talented artisan finishers.
The transformation of the showroom from empty premises has allowed us to tailor the space to perfectly suit our requirements and represent the company in a genuine way. It has provided a platform to feature some our most popular finishes in practical use, as well as exhibiting examples of our bespoke furniture.
