  • PV Slate on grade 2 listed cottage

This grade 2 listed Cotswold cottage has a complete edge-to-edge solar roof on the South elevation.

    The Challenge

This 200 year old cottage had fallen into complete disrepair. The rebuild had to emulate the design and character of the original, while also allowing for the technology of modern living.
How could a solar PV system be fitted within the planning restrictions and enable the occupants to generate their own green electricity while still benefiting from the aesthetics of a beautiful listed Cotswold cottage?

    The Solution

PV Slates are solar panels that look just like light grey natural slates. For this highly senstive project, custom ‘infill’ slates were used around the edges of the roof. These are made of the same toughened glass as the PV Slates and were made to fit the roof exactly. Standard sizes are often possible if there is an overhang as we can specify the ideal width and match this on the other side. The edges can be finished with our special verge trays, which we can provide to match on the natural slate side as well.

Manufactured in Wales, PV Slates have been designed and independently tested to withstand the extremes of the UK’s weather, made of toughened glass, marine grade aluminium and stainless steel.  Every PV Slate comes with a 25 year warranty on product, solar performance and weatherproofing.

With hundreds of installations around the UK and popular with Local Authority planning departments, PV Slate is the perfect solution if you want quality materials for your building project.
