Czech bentwood furniture company Ton launched novelty called Chair 314. This design introduces a modern reinterpretation of the iconic model 14 by Swedish design maestros Claesson Koivisto Rune. The traditional craftsmanship provocatively combines the use of mesh with bentwood. Mesh, usually found in sneakers, provides Chair 314 with an unexpected visual balance and comfort.
As the name of this collection suggests, the number 314 can be related to both the authors and the product itself: 3 designers have reinterpreted the classic morphology of Chair 14. They paid attention to the perfectly crafted circular seat, which also references the mathematical constant pi – 3.14. Chair 314 thus becomes a link between design and mathematics, history and future, as well as between classicism and modernity.
