Julien Sannier, Commercial Director of leading London interiors brand, The Sofa & Chair Company lets us in on the secrets of this bespoke manufacturer and up-and-coming retail brand’s design process:
How would you describe The Sofa & Chair Company as a brand?
Our brand can be described as truly British luxury; classic, desirable, aspirational for all. We have fairly recently extended our collection to include not only exceptionally high-quality upholstered sofas, armchairs, ottomans, beds and headboards, but a whole range of other carefully-selected items selected from collections shown in Paris, London and of course, at Milan Design week. These range from scatter cushions and throws to rugs, curtains and accessories.
What can potential clients expect of the process of creating bespoke pieces of furniture? How can you assist clients in creating a ‘total look’ for a room (through accessories etc.)?
A bespoke item almost always begins with a drawing, as well as inspirational images so that we can understand the look a client wants to create. Our talented design team are then able to translate the client’s vision or idea into a comprehensive and detailed furniture design.
Many of our clients look to The Sofa & Chair Company to create a ‘total look’ for a room, and we have a dedicated and extensively experienced sales team who are able to work with individuals in order to pair upholstered pieces with hand-selected, often exclusive and even totally one-off accessories which we also stock.
Our West London showroom is great for assisting in inspiring clients, and displaying our products working together in carefully designed studios.
The Sofa & Chair Company is home to the London’s largest fabric library… can you tell us more?
Our diverse fabric library consists or more than 400 comprehensive books and we are the best client of two high-end fabric houses.
We have an in-house team whose sole responsibility is sourcing and buying the best quality and beautifully designed fabrics, so that our clients do not have to run from one fabric house to another – they can simply communicate their vision to us while we do the rest. It is amazing!
