  • Terrys Lifts – Why choose a home lift?

As technology improves over time, home lifts are becoming increasingly popular. Home lifts are highly regarded as a space saving alternative compared to the more old-fashioned stair lifts, which until now have dominated the market.

Home lifts provide a wide range of benefits, and they come in all different shapes and sizes. Sometimes choosing the right home lift for you can seem a daunting task. However, our friendly team of experts are always on hand to help.To help you make the right choice for your home, our team has come up with a few answers, from the most frequently asked questions we are asked about our home lifts.

What’s the difference between a home lift and a stair lift?

A home lift, often referred to as a domestic lift or a through floor lift, is not limited to the stairs. They require minor building works in order to be set up, and can be placed in practically any room of your home. A stair lift on the other hand, is only limited to the stairs. Stair lifts tend to take up valuable space on the staircase, and are often regarded as unpleasant looking, as very few are able to blend in with the aesthetics of the rest of the home.

Home lifts such as our Lifestyle Lift, as well as having a very small footprint, can be tailor made to suit you. There are a range of different colours and styles available to suit your home décor.

When would I need a home lift?

People choose to install a home lift for a number of reasons. The majority of our customers, who have chosen a home lift, tend to be in early retirement. They chose the home lift, when getting up and down the stairs starts to become an issue for them.  Most of our customers install a home lift as an alternative to moving home, later on in life.

The home lift has been designed with this in mind. Many of our customers have already reaped the benefits of the home lift, and have been able to enjoy the freedom of remaining in their own homes well into retirement.

How do I know which home lift would be right for me?

We have a wide range of home lifts available. They vary from the Lifestyle Lift, which is a compact stylish two person through floor lift. A Harmony Lift, which is similar to the Lifestyle Lift, however this has been designed for wheelchair users.  The Terry Home Lift (THL) 400, 600 and 1000, which are fully enclosed lifts suitable for wheelchairs and a larger capacity of people, which can accommodate up to 6 floors.

If you aren’t sure which home lift would best suit your needs, brochures can be found on all our products on our website.  Alternatively, if you would like to view one of our Lifestyle Lifts, we have a permanent stand at the NSBRC in Swindon which will be manned from 20th-22nd June 2014 for the Big Home Improvement Show.
